The JC LAB student energy meter is designed specifically for student use. The unit is best for measuring the heat capacity of water, together with immersion heater and Joule’s Calorimeter. (designed to measure Joules and Watts in low voltage AC and DC circuits).
It design in 4 modes for user to choose:
1. Voltage (V), Current (I) and Power (W)
2. Energy (J) from 1 Joule to 999,999 joule. (Time Record: 0 second to 16.6 hours)
3. Power (W)
4. Average Power (W), Joule (J) and Time Record (s)

-Use four AA size battery to operate

- Key Stage 3 Physics - Energy: Comparing power ratings of appliances in watts (W, kW). Comparing amounts of energy transferred (J, kJ, kW hour)
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Electricity: Power transfer related to p.d. and current, or current and resistance
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Energy: Power as the rate of transfer of energy.
- Key Stage 4 Physics - States of Matter: Calculating energy changes involved on heating, using specific heat capacity; and those involved in changes of state, using specific latent heat.
